Riot Games, the team behind League of Legends, has launched a new fighting title called 2XKO. IGN’s first review gave the game an 8 out of 10, praising the combat’s depth and singling out the active-tag mechanic, which recalls BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle.
The developers emphasized defense as much as offense. The game includes dodges, blocks and a “pushblock”—a move that repels an opponent—making encounters both more tactical and more dynamic.
At launch, the free-to-play 2XKO offers 11 fighters. Players begin with six characters, while the others can be unlocked through regular gameplay. Riot will also offer microtransactions for skins and additional characters, and the team says it will routinely expand the roster in future updates.
2XKO is currently available in early access on PC. IGN noted the only shortcoming is the limited roster size, but the studio is already working on that. A console release is planned in the near future.
