Fourth Wing Graphic Novel Adaptation Available for Preorder
Fourth Wing took the world by storm when it launched, selling millions of copies and getting author Rebecca Yarros to the top of the bestsellers list. Its successors, Iron Flame and Onyx Storm, followed suit, causing bookstores to run out of stock on launch week. The Empyrean series appeals to many sorts of readers, whether they enjoy fantasy, romance, dragons, or the young-adult genre in general, which is why it rose to fame almost immediately.
The end of Onyx Storm left readers on the edge of their seats, but they knew they would still have a long way to go before being able to read the next part in this five-book series. Meanwhile, fans have kept themselves busy rereading the first books, discussing theories with the community on Reddit, and keeping an eye on Rebecca Yarros’ social media. But that does not mean that there is no new Empyrean Series content coming, as the first graphic novel for the franchise just went on preorder on Amazon.

Rebecca Yarros often updates fans on her writing schedule and plans through Instagram posts and stories. She has been sharing details about her work on the upcoming Fourth Wing graphic novel, and followers have been eagerly learning more about it. The wait is almost over as the graphic novel launches on April 6, 2027, and has just become available for pre-order on Amazon and retailers, such as Barnes & Noble, Walmart, and Target. This is the first of two graphic novels based on Fourth Wing, the first book in the Empyrean series, and it retells chapters 1 through 22. A total of six graphic novels have been greenlit, two for each volume of the book series.

After Onyx Storm, Rebecca Yarros focused on writing contemporary novels, the graphic novel, and Threshing Day, a collection of short stories featuring characters from the Empyrean series. She has been busy, and while fans are excited for the graphic novels and new content, many are worried about how her full schedule will affect the release of book four.
Although no official release date has been revealed yet, this likely will not delay the next entry in the main Empyrean series at all, as Rebecca Yarros seems to have been working on the graphic novel for longer than fans would expect. An update posted on her Instagram account in August 2025 mentioned that she was plotting for book four and working on part two of the graphic novel. This means that it has been over a year since she started working on Fourth Wing, The Graphic Novel: Part Two and that she finished writing Part One long before then.
The launch of Threshing Day on Sept. 29 will give fans some new content to hold onto and analyze while they wait for Onyx Storm‘s successor. Readers would like to have book four in their hands in 2027, and it is still entirely possible. After this, readers can also look forward to another adaptation, as Amazon will turn Fourth Wing into a Prime Video fantasy series.
