Former Rockstar Developer Says Grand Theft Auto VI Won’t Come to Switch 2
The franchise also simply lacks an audience on Nintendo’s console.
Former Rockstar Games developer Jeremy Hartwick believes that releasing GTA VI on the Nintendo Switch 2 does not make much sense. He shared this in a new interview on the Kiwi Talkz YouTube channel.
According to Hartwick, the potential audience for GTA VI and the audience for the Nintendo Switch 2 supposedly do not overlap very much. He suggests that fans of the franchise who want to play the new installment will instead purchase a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S, platforms where the game will officially launch.

Hartwick also pointed out the technical limitations of the Nintendo Switch 2. In his opinion, developers would have to make compromises to run the game on less powerful hardware, which could lead to noticeably lower quality compared to the versions for current-generation consoles. Specifically, the console’s relatively weak central processing unit could potentially create problems with the large-scale simulation of the game world, to which Rockstar traditionally pays close attention.
