For King & Country Continues Record No. 1 Streak on Christian Airplay Chart With ‘Amen’

For King & Country, the duo of brothers Joel and Luke Smallbone, scores its ninth No. 1 on Billboard‘s Christian Airplay chart, as “Amen” ascends to the top of the July 3-dated survey.

It’s also the twosome’s record-extending sixth consecutive No. 1 promoted as a proper single. “Amen,” which the pair penned with Matt Hales and Seth Mosley, follows “O Come O Come Emmanuel” (featuring NEEDTOBREATHE), which led for two weeks starting in December; “Together,” with Kirk Franklin and Tori Kelly (five weeks, beginning in August 2020); “Burn the Ships” (five, starting in January 2020); “God Only Knows” (10, beginning in April 2019); and “joy.” (four, starting in August 2018).

“As with anyone who creates, you never quite imagine that a part of you, or a part of your story, could mean so much to so many,” the duo shares in a statement to Billboard. “While in buses and dressing rooms on the road, we wrote these songs from personal experiences and heartaches. To now see the impact represented in the charts, and to see ‘Amen’ mark the sixth consecutive No. 1 for our team, is such a true honor. Truthfully, we don’t quite have the words to express our gratitude.”

The six-pack pushes the duo further ahead of MercyMe, which posted four straight leaders in 2010-12.

In the tracking week ending June 27, “Amen” increased by 3% to 9.7 million audience impressions, according to MRC Data.
