Foo Fighters have won Best Rock Performance at the 2022 Grammy Awards. The band members won the award as they mourn their late drummer Taylor Hawkins, who died in March. Formally, the Grammy goes to Foo Fighters and all the members, including Dave Grohl and Hawkins.
The band won the Grammy for Best Rock Performance for their recording of “Making a Fire.” Other nominees included AC/DC (“Shot in the Dark”), Black Pumas (“Know You Better”), the late Chris Cornell (“Nothing Compares 2 U”), and Deftones (“Ohms”).
Foo Fighters’ track “Waiting on a War” won Best Rock Song over music by fellow nominees Weezer (“All My Favorite Songs”), Kings of Leon (“The Bandit”), Mammoth WVH (“Distance”), and Paul McCartney (“Find My Way”).
Foo Fighters’ album Medicine at Midnight won Best Rock Album. It was nominated alongside AC/DC’s Power Up, Black Pumas’ Capitol Cuts: Live From Studio A, the late Chris Cornell’s No One Sings Like You Anymore Vol. 1, and Paul McCartney’s McCartney III.
