ARK Community Crunch 298: Desmodus Wins the Fjordur Vote

Studio Wildcard published Community Crunch 298 on January 8, 2022, naming Desmodus Draculae the winner of ARK: Survival Evolved’s second Fjordur Community Creature Vote. The same update previewed Andrewsarchus and Fjordhawk and confirmed that three new creatures were planned for Fjordur’s June launch.

Desmodus won the second creature vote

The ranked vote drew more than 60,000 ballots. Desmodus Draculae finished first, and Wildcard said a concept and dossier would follow in the coming weeks. Carcharodontosaurus was also promised as a separate free update later in 2022 rather than as one of Fjordur’s three launch creatures.

Andrewsarchus and Fjordhawk dossiers

Andrewsarchus was presented as a fast omnivore that could move through deep water, carry cargo and use a minigun-equipped saddle. Fjordhawk was described as an intelligent scavenger able to locate injured prey and return a survivor’s belongings after death.

These dossiers established distinct roles before release: Andrewsarchus as a mobile reconnaissance and hauling mount, and Fjordhawk as a recovery companion. The post framed both as part of the free Fjordur map’s June 2022 creature lineup.

Wildcard also said more than 300 prizes would be distributed for the #ARKXmasLoot giveaway and confirmed there would be no EVO event that week. The issue closed with its usual Community Corner selection of creator videos, fan art and screenshots.
