In Fields of Mistria, several romanceable characters are waiting to be wooed through thoughtful gift-giving. As you cross paths with these residents during your daily routines, knowing exactly what items capture their interest will help fast-track your journey to romance.

Upon reaching heart rank eight, you unlock the option to pursue a committed relationship or keep things strictly platonic. Reaching rank 10 opens the door to proposing marriage, and starting a family together becomes possible afterward.

The guide below outlines all available romance candidates in Fields of Mistria, highlighting accessible early-game items to win them over quickly. Please note that this is not an exhaustive catalogue of every liked and loved item, but rather a curated selection of acquisitions you can secure relatively early on.

Update (Aug. 7): This guide has been refreshed to include the newest romance candidate introduced in version 0.15, bringing the content fully in line with the 1.0 update.

Fields of Mistria marriage candidates and easy gifts

There are 12 eligible characters in total, presented below in alphabetical order. The two secret marriage candidates are segregated underneath a spoiler warning for your protection.

Adeline

Adeline, a pink-haired girl in a cloak in Fields of Mistria Image: NPC Studio

As the daughter of Mistria’s barons, Adeline effectively manages the settlement and delivers the administrative tasks required to restore the town.

During the early phases of your playthrough, gifting her tulips (available in spring) and peaches (available in summer) will steadily improve your standing. Tulips are easily foraged across the landscape, while peaches can be harvested from a fruit tree located in The Narrows.

She adores peaches and cream, a recipe crafted from summer-foraged peaches, milk, and sugar. (Since her brother Eiland also appreciates this dessert, keeping a surplus on hand satisfies both siblings efficiently!) She is equally fond of coffee, which can occasionally be purchased from Balor’s cart or the Sleeping Dragon Inn for 100 Tesserae, or secured from Darcy during the Saturday Market.

Balor

Balor, a blue-haired man, with shoulder-length hair in Fields of Mistria Image: NPC Studio

Balor operates as a shrewd traveling merchant who assists you in shipping out your harvested goods.

Early on, you can impress Balor with rubies, which are discovered on the upper tiers of the mines (floors 1–19). He also takes a liking to sapphires and emeralds, the alternative gems unearthed in deeper shafts.

For a slightly more sophisticated offering, he deeply cherishes pristine variants of these precious stones, such as perfect rubies and perfect sapphires.

Celine

Celine, a blonde girl in a short green cloak in Fields of Mistria Image: NPC Studio

Celine is a gentle soul dedicated to botanical studies and nature. She is also the daughter of the general store proprietors.

Because she has a passion for flora, building a bond with her is remarkably straightforward. She welcomes any foraged blossom, including lilacs, tulips, dandelions, and daisies, all of which appear in abundance throughout spring and summer.

She holds a special fondness for hydrangeas, which thrive during the summer months along the Eastern Road just east of Mistria.

Eiland

Eiland, a pink-haired man in purple, gold, and white clothes in Fields of Mistria Image: NPC Studio

As the son of the town barons, Eiland dedicates more of his time to archaeology than his sister does, frequently lending a hand down at the local museum.

Regrettably, Eiland proves to be a tougher suitor to sway since his palate leans exclusively toward prepared culinary dishes. He enjoys candied strawberries, which can be whipped up using spring-grown strawberries and sugar, or occasionally bought from Balor’s cart for 250 Tesserae.

Eiland is head-over-heels for strawberry shortcake. Although this recipe takes quite a while to unlock natively, you can procure it on rotation from Balor’s cart and the Sleeping Dragon Inn for 600 Tesserae apiece.

Hayden

Hayden, a larger man with long brown hair and a beard in Fields of Mistria Image: NPC Studio

Hayden runs the neighboring farm just west of your homestead and specializes in animal husbandry—he is also the vendor through whom you purchase livestock.

Unsurprisingly, Hayden favors most ranch yields, such as eggs, cow milk, butter, and cheese, making him an easy target once you establish your own farm animals early on.

His absolute favorites are the premium-grade variations of these goods, which require a bit more patience. However, once your livestock begins dropping golden eggs and golden cow milk, winning his affection becomes a breeze. Furthermore, by collecting shiny beads through daily animal care (unlocked via the “Currency of Care” ranching perk), you can trade these trinkets to the chicken statue stationed near Hayden’s house for a shot at acquiring these golden treasures ahead of schedule.

Juniper

Juniper, a witchy woman with long purple hair in Fields of Mistria Image: NPC Studio

Juniper is a sorceress managing Mistria’s bathhouse who also helps uncover the arcane mysteries underlying the town’s history.

Her tastes lean toward mystical elements like fungi and amphibians. The simplest offerings are red toadstools, acquired by defeating the red mushroom adversaries inhabiting the shallow mine levels (floors 1–19), alongside monster powder dropped by similar foes.

Conversely, Juniper’s absolute favorite items are somewhat more demanding. The earliest recipe you can prepare for her is moon fruit cake, which unlocks once you fulfill a personal request for moon fruit. Because moon fruit is exclusively foraged during autumn, be sure to gather a plentiful supply when the season hits. She also holds deep affection for crystal roses, a rare forage item discovered in the deeper caverns of the mines (floors 41–59).

March

March, a red-haired man in a tank top with a bandana in Fields of Mistria Image: NPC Studio

Though slightly cantankerous, March is the local blacksmith who can frequently be spotted around town alongside his brother.

He is another low-maintenance candidate to appease; provided you have spent time in the mines, you will likely have a surplus of raw materials. Any variety of ores and metal ingots will do the trick.

He also loves flawless ore variants like perfect copper ore, making him an excellent outlet for any extra high-grade materials you unearth.

Reina

Reina, a brown-haired girl with space buns in a yellow jacket in Fields of Mistria Image: NPC Studio

As the innkeeper’s daughter and resident head chef, Reina helps her family run the local lodge and possesses a true passion for gastronomy.

Most of her preferences center around nourishment, though she also values fundamental staples like cheese, flour, rice, and sugar. Keep in mind that processing milk, wheat, rice stalks, and sugar cane requires an unlocked mill—though sugar can alternatively be purchased straight from the general store for 115 Tesserae.

Because Reina’s focus remains tied to food, her loved items can be slightly tricky to acquire early on. The most accessible recipe is cabbage slaw, calling for spring cabbage and foraged spring fennel. She is also fond of breaded catfish, which becomes straightforward to assemble once you unlock the recipe via a notice board request.

Ryis

Rhys, a man with short curly hair and a red bandana around his neck in Fields of Mistria Image: NPC Studio

Ryis serves as the town carpenter and woodworker, assisting you with barn construction, home expansions, and general architectural improvements.

His preferred items are wonderfully simple and easy to gather: wood, clay, and stone. If you have spent even a brief amount of time clearing debris from your farm, you likely possess an abundance of these resources to spare.

While many of Ryis’ top-tier favorites consist of gold-quality culinary dishes and animal yields, he also has a soft spot for hard wood. This material is harvested by chopping down the massive tree stumps scattered across Mistria and your farm, though doing so requires at least a copper axe upgrade.

Valen

Valens, a woman with short silver hair in a white coat in Fields of Mistria Image: NPC Studio

Valen functions as the town physician, though you will rarely cross paths with her professionally provided you practice good sleep hygiene and head to bed before 2 a.m.

Her liked items require a bit more effort to track down. The most accessible offering is seaweed, retrieved by diving into the dark, bubbling water spots appearing in the ocean. She also appreciates dandelions foraged during the spring months.

Mirroring several other residents, her top-tier favorites are largely prepared dishes. We suggest deep sea soup, formulated from three ingredients harvested within the mid-tier levels of the mines (floors 21–39): jade dulse, mine mussels, and underseaweed.

Caldarus

Caldarus, a dragon man with long dark teal hair in Fields of Mistria Image: NPC Studio via Polygon

Caldarus is the magical dragon entity who assists you around your homestead. He only becomes accessible as a romance candidate after you finish a specific storyline quest.

Caldarus is by no means an early-game option (considering the prerequisites required to unlock him), but he appreciates certain meals purchasable at the local inn, such as crab cakes and beet soup. You can also pick up sweet treats for him from Darcy’s Stall during weekend markets, including chocolate cake and ice cream sundaes.

He is deeply enamored with the statuette of Caldarus, which can be unspotted by digging up artifact locations along The Eastern Road. Furthermore, once your inn undergoes upgrades, you gain the ability to purchase and gift him seafood boils and seafood snow pea noodles, both of which he loves.

Seridia

Seridia represents a definitive late-game encounter, meaning she remains locked until you completely conclude the mining narrative arc.

She appreciates most specimens found within the deepest sections of the mines, including the four void materials (void powder, void pearl, void stone, and void herbs), alongside various monster remains dropped throughout the caverns, such as monster fangs, monster shells, and monster powder.

As for items she holds dearest, she values the unknown dragon statuette as well as the specialized dragon-forged goods crafted during the mine questline.
