The creator behind the UnrealWars YouTube channel recently drew attention to an unofficial remake of Star Wars: Rebel Assault, which is being developed using the modern Unreal Engine 5.
Star Wars: Rebel Assault is a rail shooter that follows a pilot of the Rebel Alliance. This particular dev diary examines the planet Kolaador and the overhaul of in-game cinematics — Metahuman technology played an important role.
The project is getting more than a cosmetic upgrade; gameplay is being polished as well: the flight routes will be extended and more varied.
The community has a real impact on development — after player feedback the asteroid field sequence was redesigned: it’s now less dense and visibility has been improved.
