Pasadena Police have detained a suspect in connection with an assault against three concertgoers during Rüfüs du Sol’s August 16 headline performance at The Rose Bowl.

According to a statement released by the Pasadena Police Department on August 21, officers were dispatched to the stadium’s seating area around 8:30 p.m. on August 16, 2025. Investigators determined that a male patron, provoked when his drink was spilled, assaulted three individuals, causing injuries of varying severity.

The incident attracted widespread attention earlier this week after a video clip from the evening’s opening act, Glass Beams, went viral. The footage depicts the assailant striking another attendee repeatedly, while a separate female victim reports being rendered unconscious and left bleeding.

Utilizing public tips and video evidence, detectives identified the alleged perpetrator. On August 21, 2025, 23-year-old Julio Cesar Lopez Zavala was apprehended in Hawthorne, California. Formal charges are now under review by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Responding via social media, Rüfüs du Sol expressed heartbreak over the violence and reaffirmed their commitment to fan safety. “We are devastated by this reprehensible act at our show,” the band stated, emphasizing their dedication to creating secure, celebratory experiences. They confirmed full cooperation with local law enforcement.
