Evil Dead Burn has arrived in theaters, offering franchise enthusiasts another gruesome serving of Deadite mayhem. Helmed by director Sébastien Vaniček, this visceral film centers on a fractured family fighting for survival against demonic forces, while simultaneously paving the way for the series’ future.

Following in the footsteps of the 2013 Evil Dead reimagining and 2023’s Evil Dead Rise, these films largely function as standalone chapters held together by the overarching dread of the Deadites and the cursed Book of the Dead. However, Evil Dead Burn serves as a key connective link, weaving in references to past events and teasing potential future directions for the saga, provided it finds success at the box office.

[Ed. note: The following contains spoilers for Evil Dead Burn.]

Does Evil Dead Burn feature a mid-credits scene?

Yes, there is a mid-credits sequence. It picks up right after Alice (Souhlia Yacoub) narrowly escapes the nightmare. After successfully neutralizing the possessed remains of her treacherous husband’s family, she is rescued by paramedics. As she calmly lights a cigarette, the scene fades to the credits—but not before we realize one demonic threat remains at large.

We catch a glimpse of the family’s grandmother (Maude Davey) dragging herself down a sun-drenched road. Having survived the film’s climactic battle, she is now missing a leg—a grim consequence of an earlier encounter. When a well-meaning motorist stops to assist the seemingly helpless woman, the grandmother masks her monstrous, Deadite features until the driver lets her guard down, allowing the demonic infection to spread once more.

Does Evil Dead Burn have a post-credits sequence?

Evil Dead Burn includes a second, more impactful post-credits scene that signals a major franchise callback. The scene revisits the funeral home where Will’s memorial was held. As a worker and her young daughter clear out unclaimed urns, the girl reads the name “Ellie Bixler” aloud. The lights flicker, and in the mirror’s reflection, she sees the antagonist from Evil Dead Rise. The apparition suddenly lunges, shifting into her demonic form and brutally dispatching the girl with the chilling line, “Mommy’s back.”

When is the next Evil Dead movie scheduled for release?

The next installment, titled Evil Dead Wrath, is slated for release in 2028. Written and directed by Francis Gallupi—fresh off his work on the neo-western The Last Stop in Yuma County—the film promises to take the franchise in a new direction.

According to producer Robert Tapert, Wrath will serve as a prequel set in 1972, predating the events of the existing films. “It’s a complete departure,” Tapert mentioned in a Dread Central interview. Production has officially wrapped, and fans can expect to see it hit theaters on April 7, 2028. The ensemble cast features Charlotte Hope, Jessica McNamee, Zach Gilford, Josh Helman, Ella Newton, Elizabeth Cullen, and Ella Oliphant.
