Theatrical distributor World Pictures has announced the release of the psychological horror film “Essence.” The picture, featuring Benedict Cumberbatch, is scheduled to hit Russian cinemas on November 20.
The story follows a gifted illustrator and his family as they come under siege from a mysterious entity that feeds on fear. Before it can seize complete control, they must uncover whether this presence is a creation of the mind or a genuine supernatural force.
The film is adapted from Max Porter’s 2015 novel Grief Is the Thing with Feathers. “Essence” received its first screening at the Sundance Film Festival in January and has drawn mixed critical reactions (53% on Rotten Tomatoes).
