Erykah Badu is making sure to remain in the Obamas’ good graces by apologizing for being a “terrible guest” at No. 44’s 60th birthday party.
The 50-year-old neo-soul artist was one of several all-star guests at the former president’s private Hawaiian-themed birthday bash at Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusettes, which reportedly prohibited photography and videography. However, the “Bag Lady” singer broke the rules when she posted (and later deleted) a video on her Instagram Story of the birthday boy dancing with H.E.R. before giving her a hug. On Thursday, she issued a public apology.
“Mr. And Mrs. Obama , Please forgive me 4 being the ‘terrible guest ‘ at such a sacred event for your family,” she wrote on Twitter. “I was so inconsiderate, Thank you for all your love. What an example of ‘how NOT ‘ to be …… erica.”
When a Twitter user asked if the former First Family made the singer take down the video and publicly apologize, she responded, “Naw sis. It’s just right thing.”
We’re sure Obama is still bumping Ms. Badu’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs top 40 hit “Didn’t Cha Know,” adding the track to the latest edition of his annual summer playlist, which he shared in July.
