End of an Era: FIFA’s Last Servers to Be Shut Down Soon

Electronic Arts is drawing to a close a partnership with the FIFA brand that has lasted for more than three decades. On October 30, 2025, the company will permanently deactivate the servers for FIFA 23 — the last football title released under that name.

According to EA’s Service Updates page, by month’s end FIFA 23 will lose all online features across PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC. That includes Ultimate Team, Pro Clubs and online co-op — after the servers are shut down, the game will only be playable in offline modes.

The shutdown marks a symbolic end to EA’s long-running relationship with FIFA, which concluded shortly after FIFA 23’s release. The franchise has since continued under a new identity: EA Sports FC.

Following the server closure, speculation has emerged that 2K Games could secure the FIFA license and develop its own soccer title. EA said it “welcomes competition” and recognizes “how challenging it is to craft a truly great football game.”

FIFA 23 will stand as the final entry in EA’s classic FIFA series, closing an era that spanned more than thirty years.
