On Monday, May 11, Kim Mathers, the former wife of rapper Eminem, entered a plea regarding legal charges brought against her in Macomb County, Michigan.

Mathers entered a plea of no contest following accusations stemming from a vehicle collision on February 16. Authorities allege that while operating a white Range Rover, she struck a parked silver Dodge Ram with enough force to propel the truck over 50 feet. Furthermore, officials report that Mathers failed to remain at the scene to report the incident.

During her Monday arraignment in district court, Mathers faced two misdemeanor charges: operating a vehicle while impaired and failing to stop after a collision. By opting for a no-contest plea, she accepts the conviction without officially admitting guilt.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 17. Mathers could face up to 93 days in jail for the impaired driving charge and a maximum of 90 days for the failure to stop at the scene of the accident.

“Driving under the influence is not merely a lapse in judgment; it is a calculated decision that puts every individual on the road at risk,” Macomb County Prosecutor Pete Lucido stated. “Choosing to drive while impaired is a choice to jeopardize the safety of others, and we are committed to holding those who make that choice fully accountable.”

Kim Mathers was married to Detroit-based artist Eminem—born Marshall Mathers—from 1999 to 2001, with a brief remarriage in 2006. The couple shares a 30-year-old daughter, Hailie Jade Scott. Additionally, Eminem adopted Alaina Marie Scott, their niece, who was raised alongside Hailie Jade.
