Lola Young didn’t claim a No. 1 single this time, but she still walked away with an unexpected prize: the keys to Elton John’s house. The pop newcomer shared a playful video showing the music legend honoring a wager he made about her song “Dealer.”

In the clip, John explains, “I told Lola if her single didn’t reach No. 1, I’d give her the keys to my house.” With his arm draped around Young, she deadpans, “Yeah, I know — I’ve been waiting.”

When John jokingly asks whether he and his husband, David Furnish, can still crash there occasionally, Young replies without hesitation, “No, sorry — it’s mine now.” The two break into laughter as John admits, “Me and my big mouth.”

Young captioned the post, “Since ‘Dealer’ isn’t No. 1 yet, @eltonjohn had to give me his house (as promised). I’m sure this is the last time he’ll make a bet … Thanks @eltonjohn, love ya x.” John chimed in under the clip, teasing, “Thanks for letting us sleep over every now and then, @lolayounggg!”

“Dealer” is featured on Young’s album I’m Only F–king Myself, which arrived Sept. 19 via Island Records. The record also includes the track “One Thing,” which charted at No. 20 on the U.K. Songs list and reached No. 14 on Billboard’s Bubbling Under Hot 100.

John has been a vocal admirer of Young’s work. On his Apple Music show Rocket Hour this summer, he praised “Dealer” as one of the biggest songs he’d heard in years, saying he was proud of Young and confident she was poised for a major career.
