El Fantasma returns to No. 1 on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart (dated Aug. 14) for the second time in their career, as the group’s latest single, “Soy Buen Amigo,” rises to the top (moving 2-1).
The song reaches the summit on the strength of 7.7 million radio airplay audience impressions earned in the tracking week ending Aug. 8, according to MRC Data.
El Fantasma first hit No. 1 on Regional Mexican Airplay in 2019 with “Encantadora” after previously sending five songs into the top 10.
“Soy Buen Amigo” concurrently rises 29-28 on the Hot Latin Songs chart (after reaching No. 27 five weeks ago).
Among other chart moves on Regional Mexican Airplay, Grupo Firme and Carin Leon’s “El Toxico” leaps from No. 13 to No. 3. It earns Grupo Firme its fifth top 10 and second-highest-charting hit after their No. 1-peaking “Yo Ya No Vuelvo Contigo” in 2020, and Leon his third consecutive top 10 (and highest-charting song to date).
Plus, Gerardo Ortiz notches his 30th career entry on Regional Mexican Airplay, as “Tranquilito” opens at No. 32. Ortiz has the fifth-most career entries on the chart among solo artists, after Marco Antonio Solis (52), Vicente Fernandez (46), Joan Sebastian (35) and Jenni Rivera (32).
