Ed Sheeran Sends ‘Shivers’ Throughout NYC at 2021 VMAs

At the 2021 MTV VMAs, Ed Sheeran opted to perform his most recent track instead of his latest ubiquitous hit, and the results were triumphant, as “Shivers” was given a spotlight under the New York City stars on Sunday night (Sept. 12).

Introduced by his pal Rita Ora as “one of the nicest human beings” that she’s ever befriended and worked with, Sheeran was then beamed in live from Brooklyn Bridge Park, where he strutted through “Shivers” on a triangular stage as purple lights and the NYC skyline sparkled behind him. Sheeran was all smiles during the song’s breakdown, conjuring handclaps in between guitar strums and inviting a full band in on the fun.

“Shivers” is the latest offering from Sheeran’s upcoming fourth solo studio album, =, due out Oct. 29 on Atlantic Records. Released last week, the track follows Sheeran’s top 10 smash, “Bad Habits,” which was issued in June and has peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The music video for “Bad Habits” is nominated for video of the year at the 2021 VMAs. Click here to read an updating list of Sunday night’s winners.
