DYSTOPICON brings its satirical dystopian life sim to Steam on July 27
Spanish independent studio Palitroque will release DYSTOPICON on Steam on July 27, 2026. The game is a satirical dystopian time-management life sim about a Class-2 citizen whose government job is to watch TV, earn a salary and spend that money on services needed to survive.
The release price is 7.99 EUR, with a 15 percent launch discount planned for the first two weeks. The project began in 2018 as a small prototype by Juan Felipe Molina, then grew into a commercial Steam version after the early build reached 12,000 downloads.
A room, a screen and a system watching back
DYSTOPICON is set in a retro-futuristic society where robots have replaced humans at work. The player starts in government housing and makes daily choices through reports, paid services and TV time. The game lets players remain obedient, bend the rules or push against the system.
The story mode includes six scenarios, one of them secret, and 14 possible endings. New situations change the strategy as the player moves from a second-class citizen toward party status, punishment or stranger outcomes.
Challenge mode and a rebuilt look
Alongside the story, DYSTOPICON includes a challenge mode where the goal is to save enough money to leave the room. That mode strips away daily news and side distractions, leaving the player with the economy of survival.
The final version also has a new visual identity. 3D artist Xenia Almela worked on the game models, while 2D artist Mario Alba expanded the comic-style material that appeared around the original version.
Palitroque describes DYSTOPICON as a game about screen addiction, bureaucracy and the cost of curiosity in a system that pays citizens to look away.
