Last Tuesday (Aug. 10) was Duran Duran Appreciation Day, a 24-hour binge for Duranies. Sticking with that logic, let’s call it Duran Duran Appreciation Week.
A few days earlier, the band dropped a new song “More Joy.” And on Thursday (Aug. 12), the British ’80s superstars were the musical guests on The Tonight Show.
Simon Le Bon and Co. stopped by Jimmy Fallon’s late-night show for a performance of “Invisible,” with Blur’s lead guitarist Graham Coxon joining them on stage.
“Invisible” is the first track from the legendary British pop-rock outfit’s forthcoming 15th studio album, Future Past, due out Oct. 22 via Tape Modern for BMG.
More tunes have followed, namely a live version of “Give It All Up” and the new cut “More Joy,” featuring Japanese rock band Chai and more guitar work from Coxon.
Guest producers on Future Past include Erol Alkan, Giorgio Moroder and Mark Ronson, who worked with the group on their 2010 LP All You Need Is Now, and collaborations with Tove Lo and David Bowie’s former pianist Mike Garson.
It’s the followup to 2015’s Paper Gods, which charted in the Top 10 on both sides of the Atlantic.
This year is a big one for DD, which has seen the band celebrate the 40th anniversary of their self-titled debut album.
