On Tuesday (Aug. 17), iHeartMedia presented iHeartRadio titanium awards to four smash hits that have reached 1 billion total audience spins across iHeartRadio stations: Ariana Grande‘s “Positions,” Chris Brown and Young Thug’s “Go Crazy,” Dua Lipa’s “Levitating,” and 24Goldn featuring Iann Dior’s “Mood.”
All four of these singles were released in 2020; all four reached the top three positions on the Billboard Hot 100. “Mood” logged eight non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 in 2020-21; “Positions” debuted at No. 1 in November 2020; “Levitating” reached No. 2; and “Go Crazy” peaked at No. 3.
Lipa alone is being honored for “Levitating,” according to iHeart, because the 1 billion total audience spin figure includes both her solo version and the remix featuring DaBaby. The remix alone doesn’t meet the criteria.
These are the first titanium award recipients announced in 2021.
The total audience spins calculation is based on Mediabase airplay and is multiplied by the number of persons listening to the radio at the time of those plays, delivering total audience impressions, which iHeart regards as the broadcast equivalent of the number of streams from a streaming music service.
Post Malone and Shawn Mendes were the top titanium award winners in 2020, taking three awards each. Posty scored with “Sunflower,” “Wow” and “Circles”; Mendes with “In My Blood,” “Señorita” and “If I Can’t Have You.”
Grande, Drake, Lipa, Harry Styles, Jonas Brothers, Khalid, Lewis Capaldi, Lizzo, Roddy Ricch and The Weeknd each had two Titanium winners in 2020.
