Drake barely missed spooky season. Just days after Halloween, Drizzy dropped the horror show video for “Knife Talk,” the minor key creeper featuring Project Pat and 21 Savage from his Certified Lover Boy album. Mixing in footage from the 1962 low budget horror thriller Carnival of Souls and the 1971 Italian slasher flick o Strangolatore di Vienna — about a butcher who accidentally kills his wife then grinds up her body and sells it as sausage — the Pablo Rochat-directed clip is guaranteed to give you the chills.
The black and white visual also tosses in some classic old-school cartoons in between shots of Pat and Savage in dimly lit street scenes as the body-dropping lyrics tell a story of no remorse. “I’m mister body catch, slaughter gang soul snatcher/ Ain’t no regular F-150, this a f—in’ Raptor,” Savage raps over the ominous Metro Boomin and Peter Lee Johnson beat amid images of a woman stabbing a man in the back.
By the time Drake shows up — standing in the dark with an ominously large kitchen knife on what looks like gritty CCTV footage — his looming presence is only overshadowed by Savage, who pops back into the frame as a creepy doll whose lips move in time with his second verse.
CLB returned to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart dated Nov. 6 for a fifth nonconsecutive week on top, bumping up from No. 2 on 74,000 equivalent album units in the U.S., according to MRC Data.
