Domino Saints and Mastercard have teamed up to celebrate music and soccer all at once during the 2021 Copa América, Billboard has learned.
As part of the partnership, the Puerto Rican duo helmed by David Leal and Gigi Ojeda will officially premiere the music video of their single “Dancefreak” during the semi-final match between Argentina and Colombia on Tuesday night (July 6). “Dancefreak” also marks the first clip off of the duo’s upcoming visual project dubbed Future Love Games.
“It’s a true honor for us since we’re huge fans of the sport,” the duo said in an official statement. “Futbol lifts people’s spirit, passions, and sense of community. It’s been an especially difficult period for many people, but with music and futbol we hope to bring hope and a smile to all our Latin brothers and sisters.”
Billboard confirms the Miami-based act was asked to become ambassadors of Mastercard’s music and sports campaign from a previous relationship with Ampcontact.com (AMP). They now join other music ambassadors, including Juanes and Camila Cabello.
“Dancefreak,” which premiered at the end of May, is a Latin EDM song about a girl who loves to dance all night long. As part of Mastercard’s Copa América campaign, the song is also featured in two Copa América commercials currently airing across multiple markets in Latin America (except Brazil).
“Mastercard has brought consumers closer to their passions for decades and we are constantly evolving the ways in which we connect with them,” Roberto Ramírez Laverde, SVP, marketing, and communications, Mastercard Latin America and the Caribbean added. “We’re excited about this partnership, Domino Saints is a group on the rise across the region who stand out for their energy and shared passion for music and sports.”
The official music video, directed by The Hayes Bros, will be presented by David and Gigi at 8 p.m. ET during the semifinal broadcast via ESPN Deportes.
