A few days ago, two more than serious media affirmed that Microsoft had shown interest in buying Discord, the famous messaging system particularly popular with gamers: better still, Phil Spencer would have already approached the firm and would like to integrate it into the Xbox ecosystem, which could prove to be a weapon of choice against Sony and other manufacturers. And we are not talking about a small acquisition since the company would be ready to pay … ten billion dollars.
Today, it is the turn of the famous Wall Street Journal to bring its contribution to the building: the latter declares an agreement could be concluded as early as April 2021 – next month, therefore. A buyout that risks making noise if it goes through, although it is possible that Discord will refuse: that said, with the exorbitant sum of ten billion dollars at stake, it would not be surprising if the organization gives in enough easily.
We recall that Microsoft has just released $ 7.5 billion to buy Bethesda and all of its franchises, from The Elder Scrolls to Fallout through Dishonored, DOOM or Prey. The Redmond firm seems particularly determined to dominate the video game industry.
