Director Zak Kregger has commented on the upcoming prequel to his hit film “The Weapons”.
According to Kregger, the project is indeed in development. The new film will focus on the franchise’s primary antagonist, Aunt Gladys (Amy Madigan).
“This movie is real — I’ve been talking about it with Warner Bros. There’s already a story and I’m very excited about it. It’s not nonsense,” Kregger told Fangoria.
He also noted that the prequel concept originated before the production of the original film. Kregger declined to provide further plot details or confirm any potential cast members.
“The Weapons” premiered in August of this year, earned strong critical praise and has grossed more than $260 million worldwide. The horror tale centers on the mysterious disappearances of children in a small provincial town. The cast includes Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, among others.
