Dionne Warwick Slams Jeff Bezos for Thanking Amazon Workers & Customers for Paying for His Space Flight

After Jeff Bezos blasted off to space on Tuesday, Dionne Warwick put the billionaire on blast for thanking his Amazon employees and customers for paying for his flight.

The tech giant and richest person in the world, who stepped down from his role as CEO of Amazon after 25 years and transitioned into the executive chair position, went aboard his own aerospace manufacturer Blue Origin’s New Shepard spacecraft for its first human flight on Tuesday. Warwick caught one of his rather tone-deaf remarks from the press conference following his space mission about his wealth we’ve contributed to via any purchase of any Amazon product.

“I also want to thank every Amazon employee and every Amazon customer because you guys paid for all of this,” said Bezos, who’s worth more than $200 billion  and whose company’s workers have earned notoriously low wages and unfair treatment.

Warwick was not a fan of his comment and shared her disdain for it on Twitter. “Why did he make a truly dumb statement like this? I don’t get what he expected from those employed at Amazon! I know it couldn’t have been a YAY!! Shame on you, Mr. Bezos…,” she wrote while adding the clown emoji to her tweet.
