Demi Lovato Ready to ‘Celebrate’ Her Growth on New Album — ‘It’s Not That Deep’ Arrives Soon

Demi Lovato has unveiled plans for a new full-length record this autumn, signaling a fresh phase in their creative evolution.

On Monday, September 15, Lovato revealed on Instagram that their ninth studio album, It’s Not That Deep, is slated for release on October 24. In the announcement they wrote: “this music is a reflection of where i am now. so proud of all the work I’ve done, and now, it’s time to celebrate and have some fun!!!”

The album’s cover — which Lovato called the “cover art of my dreams” — presents an intentionally odd, cinematic tableau: the artist stands unclothed with a pink dress still hanging on a hanger, while a dozen or so figures carry out small, enigmatic actions around them. Men play chess, a young boy runs clutching a soccer ball, and a woman places headphones on a seated man, creating a quietly surreal backdrop to the portrait.

“we created the most beautifully chaotic scene surrounding me, and you know i had to lock the f–k in,” Lovato wrote about the shoot, adding a thank-you to fans: “and thank you to my lovatics — i love you and i’ll never let you go.”

It’s Not That Deep will be Lovato’s first full-length project since 2022’s Holy Fvck, which reached No. 7 on the Billboard 200. While that record leaned into rock influences, listeners can already hear a return to dance-pop textures on singles such as “Fast” and the follow-up “Here All Night,” suggesting a more club-forward direction this time around.

The new album also follows a milestone in Lovato’s personal life: they married musician Jordan “Jutes” Lutes in May, with whom they previously collaborated on material for Holy Fvck.
