Deftones Release New Album “Private Music”: Stream It Now

Today (August 21), Deftones unveiled Private Music, their tenth studio album, bringing to an end over a month of strategic teasers and fan anticipation.

Fronted by the singles “My Mind Is a Mountain” and “Milk of the Madonna,” Private Music comprises eleven tracks in total:

• Cxz
• I Think About You All the Time

• Departing the Body

Partially recorded and produced in Malibu and Joshua Tree, California, the album is the band’s first full-length release since 2020’s Ohms, which climbed to No. 5 on the Billboard 200.

The announcement arrived six weeks ago, when Deftones shared a minimalist cover—a pale snake coiled on a vivid green field—on social media under the tagline “private music | out august 22.” That same day, they released “My Mind Is a Mountain,” with “Milk of the Madonna” following roughly four weeks later.

To prime listeners, Deftones hosted exclusive listening events from August 19–21 in Amsterdam, Mexico City, Los Angeles, London, Melbourne, New York, Sydney, Toronto, Vancouver, Berlin, Paris and their hometown of Sacramento.

Simultaneously, the band embarked on a North American headline tour, playing marquee venues such as Madison Square Garden in New York City and the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. They will next perform in Canada, beginning in Vancouver on Friday, before returning to U.S. stages.
