The rumors were therefore true: Dead Space will indeed return in the form of a remake. If the release date has not yet been communicated, we do know that it will be a game produced especially for PC and next gen consoles, namely the PS5 and the Xbox Series X | S. Great news for those who want publishers to stop cross-gen to free up time and energy to focus on real new generation games. Another element that the insiders had seen correctly is the studio in charge of development: it is neither more nor less than EA Motive. Formerly known as Motive Studios, it was founded in 2015 by Jade Raymond in person who left the head of Ubisoft Toronto to join the great Electronic Arts family. But her career plan at Electronic Arts was halted fairly quickly after the American publisher undertook to cancel several of her plans, notably that of a third-person narrative solo Star Wars game with Amy Hennig (she wrote the first three Uncharted) as a screenwriter. If EA Motive cashed in the departure of Jade Raymond in 2018 and released the not-so-bad EA Squadrons in October 2020, the studio now has the heavy task of reviving the Dead Space license which has not only known glory. Because even if the series was fortunate to have three episodes, sales have never been good enough in EA’s eyes to capitalize on it. As for the audience, they turned away from the series when it strayed into the basic action game, leaving the horror aside. Hopefully this remake puts things back in order.
