David Lynch’s “The Elephant Man” to debut in Russia for the first time

The distributor “Inoekino” has announced a release of director David Lynch’s film “The Elephant Man” in Russian cinemas.

The picture will reach theaters on November 27 in a 4K restoration. It chronicles the life of John Merrick, who lived in 19th-century England and suffered from what is often referred to as Proteus syndrome, a condition that led to his being called “the Elephant Man.”

John Hurt and Anthony Hopkins lead the cast. “The Elephant Man” premiered internationally in 1980 and received eight Academy Award nominations.
