Dave Powering to No. 1 in U.K.

Dave has a straight-forward name, and he’s got a straight-forward path to the U.K. chart crown.

The London rapper’s new album We’re All Alone In This Together (Dave Neighbourhood) dominates the midweek U.K. chart, by outperforming the rest of the Top 5 combined.

We’re All Alone In This Together is the market leader on physical sales, downloads and streaming equivalent albums of the week so far, the OCC reports, and he bags three of the Top 5 songs on the midweek singles chart.

In the first three days of its release, according to the charts compiler, Dave’s sophomore LP has already eclipsed the week one sales tally of his 2019 debut Psychodrama, and it’s on track to post one of 2021’s biggest opening weeks. Psychodrama went on to win the Mercury Prize and the Brit Award for album of the year.

Also starting high on the latest Official Chart Update is Anne-Marie’s Therapy (Atlantic), new at No. 2. It’s set to give the Voice U.K. coach a career high, besting the No. 3 peak for her debut Speak Your Mind.

Beatles great Paul McCartney his heading for his 23rd Top 10 album with McCartney III Imagined (EMI), a remix of alternative cuts and all-star collaborations. It’s new at No. 4, while the current No. 1 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart, KSI’s All Over The Place (BMG), dips 1-5.

Sydney singer and rapper The Kid Laroi is chasing a Top 10 for the third and final chapter of his F*ck Love (RCA) mixtape as Over You starts at No. 6 on the chart blast. The teenager has made one previous appearance on the weekly chart, with F*ck Love peaking at No. 10 last August.

Close behind is Amy Winehouse’s classic Back To Black (Island), which rises to No. 7 following the 10th anniversary of her death.

Over on the Official Singles Chart Update, Ed Sheeran’s “Bad Habits” (Asylum) remains on track for a fifth week at No. 1, ahead of Dave’s “Clash,” “Verdansk” and “In The Fire,” respectively.

The Official U.K. Singles and Albums Charts are published late Friday local time.
