Independent festival promoter and producer Danny Wimmer Presents has partnered with streaming service Twitch to launch the DWPresents channel featuring original live content around the company’s events and marquee artists.
“We have been looking for the right partner to livestream our events and create original content. Twitch’s focus on fan interaction and engagement allows us to bring our core mission of providing unparalleled experiences to the streaming space. I am excited about what we have planned and thrilled about this next step in DWP’s evolution,” says Danny Hayes, chief executive of Danny Wimmer Presents.
The DWPresents Twitch channel begins streaming on June 3 at 4:30pm PT and will offer original content six days a week. DWPresents Twitch will feature new shows like The Writer’s Circle hosted by Fever 333’s Jason Aalon Butler and feature Crown The Empire, Escape The Fate, Nothing More and Spiritbox. Another program, The Lab, will be hosted by TikTok sensation and musician Jeris Johnson and SiriusXM’s Caity Babs.
The DWPresents channel will also become the home for Twitch’s already popular That Space Zebra Show, hosted by Bobby Schubenski, Wes Borland and Josh Balz. That Space Zebra Show will continue to broadcast four times weekly and incorporate new musical features including Riff Wars, Starving Artists and the Battle For The Big Stage: Road to Rockville Edition, where a band can win a slot at Florida’s biggest rock experience, held at Daytona International Speedway. Headliners for 2021 include Metallica, Nine Inch Nails, Disturbed, Deftones and more.
“Through our partnership with Danny Wimmer Presents, incredible artists and bands have the opportunity to continue to build their own brands, connect with fans live and form communities on a global scale in a way that has never been so accessible,” says Will Farrell-Green, head of music at Twitch.
DWPresents will kick off its channel with a six-hour live broadcast from Musicians Institute’s LiveHouse Hollywood, hosted by That Space Zebra Show, and will include the conclusion of the “Road to LA” competition, with two fan-chosen bands battling live for the chance to win a demo deal with DWP’s Alchemy Recordings. The broadcast will close with a headlining performance by Atreyu.
In addition, DWPresents on Twitch will feature four days of select performances and content from Welcome To Rockville including backstage interviews, commentary with artists, games and trivia with bands. Fans should expect content from other DWP festivals and events as well.
