Cronos: The New Dawn Gets a Performance Boost on Steam Deck

A native Steam Deck build has arrived for Bloober Team’s survival-horror Cronos: The New Dawn, bringing a noticeable performance uplift compared with the build launched through Proton (Windows).

Deck Wizard’s YouTube channel published a clip that showcases a markedly more stable experience — in nearly every respect the native version performs and looks better.

Although the title still doesn’t hold a locked 60 frames per second, the improvement is evident. Cronos: The New Dawn runs reliably above 30 fps even in demanding sequences, while the Proton build struggled to reach 30 fps in the same spots.

While higher framerates are always welcome, for a survival-horror game a consistent ~30 fps is generally acceptable, since the emphasis is on atmosphere rather than fast-paced action.
