Critical Role Campaign 4 to Premiere in Three Weeks
The creators behind Critical Role tell stories across multiple genres. They have produced high-fantasy adventures through three campaigns exceeding 100 episodes each, along with gothic horror in Candela Obscura and the Age of Umbra miniseries, Sallowlands. Matthew Mercer led the latter project as Dungeon Master after stepping away from the main campaign series.
In October 2025, Brennan Lee Mulligan of Dimension 20 and Dropout fame took over as Dungeon Master for the new Dungeons & Dragons Critical Role campaign. Campaign 4 takes place in the godless world of Aramàn rather than the fantasy setting of Exandria. Mulligan structured the campaign using a West Marches frame, splitting his 13-player cast into three tables known as Soldiers, Seekers, and Schemers.
Campaign 4 features a serious tone set 70 years after mortalkind overthrew their gods in the Shaper’s War. Magic functions differently, and the residents of Pasitar struggle under the rule of the tyrannical Sundered Houses.
Campaign 4 returns in three weeks with 31 episodes that generally run between three and six hours long. Here is an overview of Campaign 4 Arc 1 before Arc 2 begins.
Everything you need to know about Campaign 4’s first arc

Campaign 4 began by bringing all 13 players together for the funeral of Thjazi Fang. Thjazi was a war hero who launched the Falconers’ Rebellion against the magical Sundered Houses based primarily in the city of Dol-Makjar.
Thjazi was captured and executed on the orders of House Tachonis. Despite his death, Thjazi left clues for his family and friends.
The players divided into three tables to pursue these leads. The Soldiers table included pixie rogue Thimble (Laura Bailey), katari paladin Teor Pridesire (Travis Willingham), aasimar sorcerer Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), demonic aspirant Tyranny (Whitney Moore), and surly ranger Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond). They sought revenge on Casimir, who betrayed Thjazi to House Tachonis, and worked to save Teor’s brother, Cyd Pridesire.
The Seekers table featured human fighter-rogue Sir Julien Davinos (Matthew Mercer), orc druid Thaisha Lloy (Aabria Iyengar), drow paladin Vaelus (Ashley Johnson), and hollow-one wizard Occtis Tachonis (Alexander Ward). They searched for Thaisha’s missing son, Alogar Fang, and discovered that House Tachonis wanted to transform Occtis into a controlled godlike weapon to attack House Royce and the Golden Orchard, a fae demiplane.

The Schemers table included dwarf divination wizard Murray (Marisha Ray), orc bard Halandil Fang (Liam O’Brien), warlock Bolaire Lathalia (Taliesin Jaffe), and human sorcerer/paladin Azune Nayar (Luis Carazo). Operating in Dol-Makjar, the Schemers recruited people mistreated by the Sundered Houses to build a new rebellion.
The three tables eventually reunited in Dol-Makjar before separating to handle three simultaneous events. First, the Sundered Houses met to solidify their plans for maintaining power. Second, the group visited the Hallowed Round, where Vaelus destroyed the Stone of Nightsong to enable the construction of a bridge to the Dying Fields, the orcish afterlife. Third, the party rescued Mara the Wing from Obrimus Manor, the home of House Tachonis. During this rescue, Teor and Cyd died in the crypts, and Julien discovered that Thjazi’s soul was connected to his shadow.
The tables reunited at Hal’s house, where Mara the Wing explained that her group, The Cloak, aimed to restore the bridges to all afterlives lost after the Shaper’s War.
What are the tables for Campaign 4’s second arc?
The players remain divided into separate tables for the second arc. Thaisha leads the Soldiers table to Dol-Rungja to meet her grandmother and local druidic circles in an effort to draw them into the fight against the Sundered Houses.

The Seekers table consists of Thimble, Occtis, Julien, Vaelus, Bolaire, and Kattigan. They travel along the Miller’s Road to the Golden Orchard to meet Mara the Wing and her contact, with a potential stop in Timmony to meet King Gus.
The Schemers table features Hal, Azune, Wick, Tyranny, and Murray, who remain in Dol-Makjar to manage ongoing political unrest.
When does Critical Role Campaign 4 return?
