Criterion Collection Launching New Streaming Service to Replace FilmStruck

WarnerMedia has introduced the Criterion Channel, a brand new streaming service set to launch in spring 2019 that may function the brand new dwelling for Criterion Collection movies. The new streaming service will function the successor to FilmStruck, the service that centered on basic, overseas, and arthouse movies, which comes to a close on the finish of the month.

“The Criterion Channel will be picking up where the old service left off, programming director spotlights and actor retrospectives featuring major Hollywood and international classics and hard-to-find discoveries from around the world, complete with special features like commentaries, behind-the-scenes footage, and original documentaries,” the most recent Criterion Collection publication reads. Guest programmer collection can even have a life on the brand new platform.

Yesterday, it was reported that quite a few movie business figures—together with Paul Thomas Anderson, Ana Lily Amirpour, Barbra Streisand, Christopher Nolan, Leonardo DiCaprio, and extra—had signed an open letter to Warner Bros Picture Group chairman Toby Emmerich to enchantment the shutdown of FilmStruck. FilmStruck will shut down on November 29.
