Coldplay announced Monday (May 17) that they will livestream a concert on TikTok next week to support Red Nose Day.
The Red Nose Day x Coldplay concert will stream Monday, May 24 at 2 p.m. ET on their TikTok account ahead of the annual Red Nose Day fundraising campaign on Thursday, May 27, that aims to end child poverty. The four-song performance will be held in London, where Coldplay recently performed new single “Higher Power” for the 2021 Brit Awards.
“We’d love for you to join us for our first-ever concert on TikTok on Monday, May the 24th, for Red Nose Day,” frontman Chris Martin said in a video message to their fans. He added in an official statement, “Red Nose Day does amazing things around the world to keep children safe, healthy, educated and empowered. We’re really happy to be able to support their work with this performance.”
Coldplay showed support for Red Nose Day in 2015 with Game of Thrones: The Musical, a 12-minute comedy sketch with the cast of the HBO fantasy drama series that has amassed more than 35 million YouTube views.
“The TikTok community are huge fans of Coldplay, and we’d like to thank the band for choosing us for this intimate performance,” said Ole Obermann, global head of music at TikTok. “This is both an exciting opportunity for our global audience to hear and watch great music, as well as raise money for a charity that does such good work for children both in the United States and around the world.”
