Minnesota native Cobi is reaching for brand new heights and emotions on his newest EP Songs From The Ashes (PT. 2), obtainable completely on Billboard right now (Sept. 20). Following the primary installment from late 2017, Ashes (PT. 2) expands from the spectacular introductory vocal showcase with broad strokes through new instrumentation and charged and refined lyricism.
“Music has always been a vehicle for protest and this three-song EP touches on my feelings of loneliness in America, violence, and everlasting love,” Cobi tells Billboard. “It’s also an homage to the music I love from the 70s: Rock, Reggae and Soul.”
The EP immediately jumps into new territory with the jolting “Church Of The Lonely,” which builds on Cobi’s powerhouse vocals with synth thrives and a searing electrical guitar that weaves itself all through the remainder of the set. Cobi crafts an anthemic protest music on the second observe, “Burnin’ One Down,” earlier than giving a nourishing dose of life-affirming soul on nearer “Rising Phoenix.”
Ashes (PT. 2) arrives on Friday (Sept. 21) through 300 Entertainment.
