Revolution Software is set to revive the beloved adventure franchise. The studio recently revealed a remaster of the next entry in the Broken Sword saga.
The Broken Sword saga began in 1996 with The Shadow of the Templars. The original point-and-click stood out at the time for its striking visuals — hand-painted backgrounds paired with 3D elements.
Revolution Software has announced that early next year Broken Sword: Smoking Mirror — Reforged will be released — a remaster of the second game, originally launched in 1997. Platforms include PC, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch.
Following the approach of the first Reforged release, The Shadow of the Templars, the remaster promises upgraded visuals, refreshed character animations, 4K support and a pristine mix of Barrington Pheloung’s original score.
“While investigating a ruthless drug cartel, journalist Nico Collard stumbles upon an ancient artifact. She could never have guessed that this intricately carved piece of obsidian would drag her and her companion George Stobbart into a mysterious adventure of intrigue and deception, where they must confront powerful forces and adversaries who will stop at nothing to realize their dark ambitions.” — reads the description on Steam.
