For Halloween 2021, Ciara paid tribute to the late Selena Quintanilla, the Queen of Tejano.
Ciara dressed as Selena circa the singer’s legendary Houston Astrodome concert in 1995, her last televised performance, where her posthumously released Selena Live! The Last Concert album and film was recorded. In the Selena-inspired look, Ciara wore a criss-cross dark purple jumpsuit with flared legs and styled her hair long with bangs.
Ciara shared photos and videos on Instagram on Friday (Oct. 29). In one clip, she smiled at the camera as she attempted to introduce herself en español: “¡Hola! Hola. Me llamo Selena. No está Ciara. Feliz Halloween.”
She also wrote a caption to explain her Halloween costume: “The Legendary Selena! I’ve been practicing learning Spanish and having the time of my life. So I wanted one of my costumes to reflect the LatinX culture. This was so much fun!”
“Me llamo SELENA!! Welcome to my show! Bidi Bidi Bom Bom,” Ciara wrote on another Instagram post, where she shared her take on Selena performing “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom,” which peaked at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Hot Latin Songs chart in 1994.
