After weeks of teasing, Charli XCX‘s Angels have finally been treated to the video for her newest single, “Good Ones,” on Thursday (Sept. 2).
The dark video starts off tame, with funeral guests arriving to a wake in a fleet of fire-red cars and all-black ensembles. Charli, however, chooses to stand out — she makes her first full body appearance in the video walking down a catwalk-like corridor to the proceedings in black lingerie, surrounded by a posse that sets its Bibles afire.
Charli and her clique then dance their way to casket viewing before ultimately stealing the show with immaculate choreography. The video then cuts to the star and the women dancing before her fallen lover’s open grave. A stylish reception soon follows, in which Charli herself dies by the end of the video.
“RIP ANGELS, GOOD ONES IS HERE. Thank you @hannahluxdavis and @imogene for helping me bring this vision to life. TIME TO FEAST,” she wrote on Instagram moments after the video’s release. Empress Of praised the singer, writing “OBSESSED!!!!” in the comments. Ashnikko echoed the praise, and wrote, “KILL MEEEEEE” under the post.
“Good Ones” will likely appear on Charli’s untitled fifth album. In an August interview with The Evening Standard, Charli told the outlet, “New music is coming, it’s very good, it is very pop. It feels like Charli ultra popstar, all-out, sell your soul, kind of version of myself. I feel like I have unlocked this kind of ultimate top-tier level of myself and it is fun to get to know her a bit as well.”
The “Good Ones” video arrives three weeks after Charli featured on Joel Corry and Jax Jones’ recent single “Out Out” alongside rapper Saweetie. Charli is also set to appear on “911” remix with A.G. Cook for Lady Gaga‘s Dawn of Chromatica remix LP, out Sept. 3.
