Sometimes the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. That’s clearly the case in Chad Smith’s family.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer has been beating the skins for decades, in a career that has earned him and his bandmates induction into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame.
Smith’s daughter Ava Maybee is following in his footsteps. In a social media post, she flexed her musical muscles with a cover of the Chili Peppers’ “Universally Speaking,” a song that appeared on the band’s 2002 album By the Way, and was accompanied with an hilarious music video starring funnyman Dave Sheridan.
Performing at the piano, Maybee’s version is stripped back to highlight her vocals.
The Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter (full name Ava Maybee Cardoso-Smith) has been performing since the age of five, and has released several singles in the past year, including “Colors,” “Lay Low” and “See Me Now.”
