CDPR surprises Cyberpunk 2077 fans with holiday art — female V fans upset

The fan celebration has taken on a decidedly heated atmosphere.

CD Projekt RED recently released desktop wallpapers styled after the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty expansion. The initial artwork showcased only the female version of V.

Since the game also includes a male incarnation of the protagonist, some commenters expressed their disappointment.

The situation has now reversed. CD Projekt RED posted birthday greetings for V (both the male and female versions share the same birthday) and published celebratory artwork.

Supporters of male V are rejoicing—the new piece depicts their favorite version. At the same time, players who selected female V have voiced complaints that their character was essentially overlooked on her birthday. For reasons unknown, the artists released only a single variant of the artwork.
