Carrie Brownstein to Direct New Movie Witness Protection

The comedy will star and be executive produced by Schitt’s Creek’s Annie Murphy

Carrie Brownstein is directing the new movie Witness Protection, according to Deadline. The comedy film will star and be executive produced by Schitt’s Creek’s Annie Murphy. The movie is being written by Rupinder Gill and David West Read, who also serve as executive producers.

The independent studio MRC Film is behind Witness Protection. The studio provides the following synopsis of the movie: “Witness Protection centers on a woman who has always defined herself by her romantic relationships, but when she is forced to enter witness protection, she must try to figure out who she really is for the first time while maintaining her cover and keeping the criminals at bay.”

Additional producers of Witness Protection include Becky Sloviter and Elysa Dutton and Leslie Morgenstein through Alloy Entertainment.

Carrie Brownstein’s band, Sleater-Kinney, released their latest album, Path of Wellness, in June 2021. Coming up, the group will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Dig Me Out with a covers album.
