Cardi B Praises Selena Gomez for Always Showing Up on New Album

Cardi B says she can always count on Selena Gomez to answer the call. In a clip from her CBS Mornings interview shared on TikTok, the rapper praised the Rare Beauty founder for her warmth and professionalism after Gomez contributed vocals to a track called “Pick It Up” on Cardi’s new album, Am I the Drama?, which was released Friday, Sept. 19.

“I just feel like she sounded really lovely for this song, and she’s such a delight to work with,” Cardi told Gayle King, noting that Gomez is quick to help when asked. Cardi joked about Gomez’s globe-trotting lifestyle, then added that when it matters, Gomez consistently follows through and offers support.

Gomez is one of several high-profile collaborators on Am I the Drama?. The project also features appearances by Janet Jackson, Tyla, Summer Walker and Lizzo, and includes Cardi’s Hot 100-topping duet with Megan Thee Stallion, “WAP.”

On the duet “Pick It Up,” Gomez and Cardi trade lines about picking things back up where they left off and reconnecting after time apart.

The two artists previously worked together on DJ Snake and Ozuna’s 2018 single “Taki Taki,” and the quartet performed the song together during Snake’s Coachella set the following year.

Am I the Drama? is Cardi B’s first full-length album since her 2018 debut, Invasion of Privacy.
