Camila Cabello is a brunette seńorita no more. The 26-year-old pop star debuted her shocking hair transformation via Instagram on Thursday (Feb. 1), showing off bright blonde locks ahead of her upcoming new era in a self-filmed video.
Taken on a handheld camcorder, the video shows Cabello rocking a white baby tee and ’90s glam as she gives fans a look at her new dye job from all angles. “It’s time,” she captioned the clip, adding a devious emoticon: “>:).”
With her new makeover, the “Havana” singer’s hair is now almost the complete opposite color of her prior natural near-black waves. In addition to sharing the video, Cabello also changed her profile picture on Instagram to a blurry photo of her as a blonde.
The night-to-day hair change comes about a month after the former Fifth Harmony member hinted at plans to release new music in 2024. A couple of days before New Year’s, she wrote on Instagram Stories that 2023 had been “mostly the year of this” over a picture of her seemingly recording vocals in front of a microphone setup.
“see you next year b-tches,” she added at the time, along with a mouth-zipped-shut emoji.
Plus, on Wednesday, Cabello shared a carousel of photos from a recording studio, featuring her posing in front of a soundboard. “is it butterflies or acid reflux ?” she mused in the caption.
Cabello hasn’t dropped an album since April 2022’s Familia, which hit No. 10 on the Billboard 200 and featured the singles “Don’t Go Yet” and “Bam Bam” with Ed Sheeran. The two songs peaked at No. 42 and No. 21, respectively, on the Billboard Hot 100.
