The Voice has reached the pointy end of the competition. On Monday night (May 17), Cam Anthony brought out his sharpest weapon.
For his Live Top 9 Performance, the youngster performed Boyz II Men’s tear jerker from 1991, “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday.” He nailed it, as he has done over several occasions over the course of the series.
“To stand up here on the stage without any instrument, anything backing you, anything to hide behind. just you and your voice,” his coach Blake Shelton remarked. “That takes a lot of nerve.”
The 20-year-old Philadelphia native wasn’t even born when Boyz II Men released the song, but he brought the type of maturity to his performance that belies his years.
Each performer had two bites of the cherry, with a solo performance and a trio effort from the ‘70s.
For his retro performance, Anthony shared the stage with Kenzie Wheeler and Corey Ward on Elvin Bishop’s “Fooled Around and Fell in Love”.
A mass elimination is coming soon. Has Anthony done enough to survive?
