As Calibre 50’s “A La Antiguita” hits No. 1 on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart (dated Aug. 21), the group clocks its 20th leader and extends its record among all acts in the chart’s 26-year history.
“A La Antiguita” lifts 2-1 with an 11% weekly improvement in audience impressions, to 8 million, earned in the tracking week ending Aug. 15, according to MRC Data. It concurrently sees growth on the overall Latin Airplay with an 8-5 climb, the closest to the top the group has placed in 2021, following “Vamos Bien,” an equal No. 5 high (chart dated May 8).
The norteño-banda tune written by Eden Muñoz and produced by Jesus Tirado — which also includes Michoacan rhythms charanga and huapango — is the fourth single from Calibre 50’s Vamos Bien album, which peaked at No. 12 n Regional Mexican Albums (Feb. 20-dated survey).
As mentioned, with “A La Antiguita’s” No. 1 reach, Calibre 50 extends its record for the most No. 1s among all acts on Regional Mexican Airplay. The band broke the record when “Decepciones,” with Alejandro Fernández, landed at the summit in Oct. 2020. With 17 leaders then, the ensemble broke away from a tie with Conjunto Primavera and Intocable, both with 16 wins. Here is a recap of the artists with the most No. 1s on the tally:

16, Intocable
15, Banda MS de Sergio Lizarraga
15, La Arrolladora Banda el Limon de Rene Camacho
15, Los Tigres del Norte
