BTS dipped into the way back machine during their first visit to the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge for a cover of Puff Daddy and Faith Evans’ Police-sampling 1997 Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit “I”ll Be Missing You.” The K-pop superstars were accompanied by a full band for the performance, which started out with all seven members seated on stage.
“This right here goes out to everyone that has lost someone/ That they truly love,” RM rapped to start the song off before busting into the opening rhyming verse. He was soon joined by the rest of the group, who beautifully harmonized on the swaying chorus, “Every step I take, every move I make/ Every single day, every time I pray/ I’ll be missing you.”
The Grammy-winning original featured the Bad Boy boss and Biggie’s widow, Evans, as well as 112 singing over a sample of the Police’s 1993 hit “Every Breath You Take.”
The BTS boys — dressed in a variety of denim and white shirts — were also up on their feet for a run through their latest English-language single, “Permission to Dance,” as well a spirited performance of their smash “Dynamite,” which required a costume change into some preppy sweaters and summer suits.
