Everything is better with butter. Just ask ARMY.
BTS’ new single “Butter” is going gangbusters on streaming platforms, smashing single-day records on Spotify and YouTube and lighting up at Top 40 radio.
On Tuesday night (May 25), RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin V and Jung Kook slid into Stephen Colbert’s Late Show for a smooth performance of their new hit, which follows “Dynamite” and “Life Goes On,” both of which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2020.
If stayed up late, and you’re keen for slick choreography, moves, looks and hooks, you’ve got it. The K-pop superstars gave us their best in a grand ballroom, fitted out with glorious chandeliers and art deco features, and raining with gold glitter.
According to data provided by YouTube, the “Butter” video set a new all-time 24-hour record of 108.2 million views, breaking the band’s own previous record of 101.1 million views for their first English-language song, “Dynamite.” And with more than 20.9 million global streams, “Butter” racked-up the largest single-day streams for a song in Spotify’s history.
BTS also dished up “Butter” last Sunday at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards, where they collected multiple trophies. BTS night owls who tuned into Colbert’s show were winners, too.
