BTS’ ‘Dynamite’ Wins Top Selling Song at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards

BTS lit up the 2021 Billboard Music Awards like “Dynamite.”

The superstar septet’s hit English-language single took home the award for top selling song on Sunday night (May 23), beating out Gabby Barrett and Charlie Puth‘s “I Hope,” Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion‘s “WAP,” The Weeknd‘s “Blinding Lights” and Megan Thee Stallion‘s “Savage” featuring Beyoncé.

Upon announcing the award, presenter Gabrielle Union noted that it was a “big night” for BTS, who also won top duo/group, top social artist and top song sales artist this year. (See our full winners list here.)

BTS thanked the ARMY for their support virtually from Seoul, South Korea. “It’s really an honor to be a winner of such a significant title,” RM said with gratitude.

“Dynamite” has spent 32 total weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, debuting at No. 1 on Sept. 4, 2020. As a result, BTS was the first all-South Korean act to reach the summit.

The group is set to perform their latest single, “Butter,” later on in the night at the 2021 BBMAs.

The Billboard Music Awards are produced by dick clark productions, which is owned by MRC. MRC and Penske Media are co-parent companies of Billboard.
