BTS’ “Butter” returns to No. 1 on the latest Billboard Japan Hot 100, dated June 28 to July 4, logging its third week at the top of the tally as it continues to rule the Billboard Hot 100 for the sixth straight week.
While it continues to gradually decline figure-wise in all metrics except karaoke, the track has ruled streaming and video views for seven weeks in a row in Japan. The former clocks in at 13,767,047 weekly streams and the latter at 6,196,972 weekly views, which are both still considerably ahead of the songs at No. 2 for those metrics: YOASOBI’s “Yoru ni kakeru” (8,486,128 streams) and the group’s previous single “Dynamite” (2,376,284 views). “Butter” continues to maintain enough momentum to extend its position atop the Japan Hot 100.
NEWS bow at No.2 this week with “Beautiful,” which sold 141,296 copies to come in at No. 1 for the metric. The latest single from the Johnny’s boy band also topped look-ups and Twitter mentions thanks to its loyal fans, but couldn’t accumulate enough points in other metrics to hold “Butter” at bay.
YOASOBI’s new track “Sangenshoku” (“Three primary colors”) debuts at No. 4 on the Japan Hot 100. After being released July 2, the song was downloaded 49,769 times during the three days it had during this chart week to come in at No. 1 for the metric.
Meanwhile, the English-language version of the breakout duo’s monster hit song “Yoru ni kakeru” — called “Into The Night” — was released on the same day, and is being counted as the same song in another language. The former No. 1 hit rises 12-5 on the Japan Hot 100 after rising 23-2 for downloads, 6-2 for streaming, and returning to No. 21 from outside the ranking for Twitter. YOASOBI has three songs in the top 10 again after a five-week hiatus.
The Billboard Japan Hot 100 combines physical and digital sales, audio streams, radio airplay, Twitter mentions, YouTube and GYAO! video views, Gracenote look-ups and karaoke data.
